Phoenix Fan Fusion Busking Area
This policy outlines the rules for the designated busking area at Phoenix Fan Fusion. Only approved individuals/groups will be allowed to use the busking area. You must complete the Busker Submission Application for Phoenix Fan Fusion so your application can be reviewed. All submissions will be notified if they have been approved or denied.
Our goal with the busking area is to provide a safe, enjoyable, and fair experience for performers and attendees alike. Phoenix Fan Fusion organizers and staff have the final say on all busking activities happening within the secure perimeter of the show.
I. General Guidelines
Assumption of Risk: Performers acknowledge they perform at their own risk. The convention is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged equipment.
Suitability for Audience: All performances, costumes, and subject matter must be suitable for a general, family-friendly audience. Profanity, obscene language, bigotry, hate speech, or derogatory references are strictly prohibited.
Conduct: Performers must conduct themselves in a safe, professional, and respectful manner. Aggressive or hostile behavior is not permitted.
Compliance: Failure to comply with the policy may result in the revocation of credentials and removal from the event.
No Protests/Political Messaging: The busking program is intended for entertainment, not protests or political messaging.
II. Location and Setup
Size of Area: The busking area will be defined by the organizer and may vary in size. Performers must stay within the designated space and be able to complete their performance within that space. Performers will be made aware of the location and size of the area prior to being scheduled to ensure they can still perform within the designated space. Plan for a 10 foot by 10 foot area.
Designated "Pitches": Busking is only permitted in designated, clearly marked "busking pitches".
Accessibility and Safety: Performers and their audience must not block entrances, exits, fire lanes, walkways, or general pedestrian/wheelchair traffic. If a crowd blocks a path, the performer must disperse the crowd to ensure free passage.
Equipment:
All equipment must be mobile and attended at all times.
No external power sources (e.g., wall outlets) may be used.
Tents, canopies, or stages are not permitted.
Performer(s) must adhere to the costume and prop policies posted on Phoenix Fan Fusion website
The use of fire, knives, or other high-risk elements is strictly prohibited.
Cleanliness: Performers must keep their assigned site clean and tidy, removing all litter or debris after their performance.
III. Performance Rules
Scheduled Time: Designated pitches will be scheduled by Phoenix Fan Fusion staff and performers must adhere to their scheduled time. Performers must arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled start time to set up and must be out of the space 15 minutes after scheduled time.
Performance Times:
Maximum performance time is one hour.
After a set, the performer/group must leave the location within 15 minutes to allow the next performer time to set up.
Amplification and Volume: No power will be provided in the space. If performers need amplification, performers must use battery-powered amps at low volume levels that do not cause a nuisance to others or nearby activities. If asked to lower the volume by staff, performers must comply immediately.
Musical Instruments: Performers must disclose all instruments they will be using for their performance. Instruments being used must be approved by convention staff.
Group Size: Groups of more than five individuals require prior approval from convention management.
IV. Monetary Exchange & Sales
Tipping: Performers may have a visible, stationary container (e.g., hat, open instrument case) for voluntary tips or donations.
Solicitation: Performers may not actively or aggressively solicit money from individuals.
Sales: The sale of merchandise (e.g., CDs, art, related products) at the busking pitch is not allowed in common areas; this requires an official exhibitor booth.
Signage: Performers are allowed one small sign (e.g., no larger than 8.5"x11" or 10"x14") that may include their name, performance details, and/or a QR code for cashless tips or online purchases.
V. Badges to Fan Fusion
Approved performers will receive a Day Badge for the day they are scheduled in the busking pitch (area). If a performer(s) is scheduled for two or more sessions, they will receive a Full Event Badge to Fan Fusion.
The badges are only provided to the performer(s) in the busking pitch. Friends, family, or support staff will not receive a badge.
Performers will be provided with a separate identifier (sticker, wristband, TBD) that designates they are an authorized busker. All performers busking must wear this additional identifier while busking.
V. Unauthorized Performers
Any performer that was denied a spot in the busking area or never submitted an application and is found to be busking at Phoenix Fan Fusion, whether in the designated “pitches” area or in another area within the secure perimeter of the convention, will be removed from the secured area of Fan Fusion, badges will be confiscated and the individual(s) will be banned from providing content at Phoenix Fan Fusion or any of Square Egg Entertainment’s shows/events.
