Director of Events and Activities - Interactive Experiences
Join the leadership team that organizes and operates Phoenix Fan Fusion by applying for one of our Director of Events and Activities positions. This position will focus on the oversight of interactive experiences, including but not limited to: Cosplay, Youth & Family Experiences, Live Entertainment, and Immersive Experiences. This is a paid, seasonal, part-time position and reports to the Vice President in charge of Events and Activities.
The Director of Events and Activities - Interactive Experiences oversees these main aspects of the convention:
The director will build a collaborative team of managers that support the interactive experiences at Fan Fusion.
The director will set the vision for each year with what genres or content areas should be the focus and ensure we are delivering an engaging, fun, and interactive experience for our attendees.
Responsible for the following areas: cosplay & maker sessions, youth experiences, live entertainment (i.e. wrestling, stage shows, parties, etc.), immersive experiences (i.e. game shows, maid cafes, lounges, etc.), and mascot team.
Partner with Operations, A/V team, convention center, and other internal and external teams to ensure all logistics are handled ahead of show dates to support content being delivered.
Oversee budget and expenses for the content team is delivered to the show. o Build relationships with any groups or support teams needed to ensure longevity of the show and content being delivered.
Oversee Cosplay Universe and work with Cosplay Groups to design hall layout and cosplay group allocations.
Additional responsibilities may be included outside of interactive experiences.
The Directors of Events and Activities assemble, lead, mentor, and guide the Events and Activities Team in creating unique, exciting, engaging, and/or educational content for Phoenix Fan Fusion. This Director would work alongside the existing Directors of Events and Activities to ensure cohesive content and the proper handling of all aspects of the show.
Directors work with the Convention Director and Vice Presidents to establish department strategy, select and train staff, allocate budgets to meet department needs, and manage department staff in pre-convention planning activities and tasks. During the convention, this position is responsible for managing staff to accomplish convention tasks and ensure the safe, efficient delivery of content and the overall safety and efficiency of the convention.
Creativity, passion, and a collaborative spirit will be key attributes for success in this role. The candidate will need to be highly organized and able to track and manage progress on multiple concurrent tasks. Flexibility and the ability to react quickly, confidently, and effectively to ongoing change are critical. The
Directors will model exemplary leadership and customer service for their team members.
Responsibilities can include, but are not limited to:
Selecting, training and supervising staff
Shaping the Convention goals for the department and convention (with Convention Director and Vice Presidents)
Developing exciting content for fans to enjoy
Contributing to the strategic goals for the department
Managing Section budget
Guiding and managing pre-Convention planning and activities for their Sections within the department
Managing the execution of the Convention plan for the Section
The ideal candidate for this position has previous leadership experience within Phoenix Fan Fusion, managing people and teams across departments. This position is remote, work from home, with occasional in-person pre-con meetings, and onsite work during the operation of Phoenix Fan Fusion.
The hourly rate is $25, with a complimentary on-site hotel room, parking, and lunch each day during the convention. You’ll further receive additional complimentary membership passes for your family or friends, a convention t-shirt, a crew lapel pin, and memories to last a lifetime!
